Whiteness is a long con

If you're white, you should know that whiteness isn't real. Whiteness was created as a social control and you're only white because at some point, your ancestors bought into the ideology of colonization. And every generation since then, we continued to buy in. We bought into it because not doing so would mean we were that much farther removed from the people who were really in control (rich white people). Because not being 'white' was intentionally made frightening; nobody wants to be society's whipping children. Because it was better - not morally or ethically, but socially and materially - to be white, than not. Social controls - laws and customs - were crafted to benefit the poor 'whites' but not to raise them to the level of 'wealthy whites' because the wealthy needed to divide the rest of the population, to protect their own power and assets.
